Let's Stride Towards a Diabetes Cure

As we approach November, which is recognized as both National Diabetes Month and American Diabetes Month, Hungry Squirrel is stepping up to the challenge. We are proud to announce our support for JDRF One Walk to end Type-1 Diabetes (T1D).

This disease does not discriminate; it affects people of all ages, races, shapes, and sizes. As a company committed to health and wellness, we believe it's time to help turn Type 1 into Type None. Join us in our mission and together let's take significant strides towards a world without T1D.

Understanding T1D

T1D is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks insulin-producing cells, causing elevated blood sugar levels. Managing T1D involves constant blood sugar monitoring, regular insulin intake, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Currently, there's no cure, but there is hope, and that's why we're walking.

JDRF’s Mission

Founded in 1970, JDRF is the leading global organization funding T1D research, and is singularly committed to ending Type 1 diabetes. With a vision of a world free from T1D, their mission is to accelerate breakthroughs that cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications. JDRF strives to change the reality of T1D by funding research, advocating for government support, ensuring new therapies reach the market, and engaging the T1D community.

Hungry Squirrel's Journey

Our founder, Sandra DiCicco-Bonar, started Hungry Squirrel out of a mother's love. After her son's T1D diagnosis, and later her own Type-2 diabetes diagnosis, Sandra was determined to create healthier food options. This led to the birth of Hungry Squirrel, offering sauces, dressings, and dry mixes that bridge the gap between taste and nutrition.

Our Promise

We promise to support our consumers' health journey by offering all-natural, plant-based products, dedicated to creating products that prioritize flavor and quality without compromising on health. We believe in making home cooking effortless and enjoyable, and that "dieting" doesn't mean being restrictive.

Our range of products are diabetic-friendly, low calorie, gluten-free, free of artificial preservatives and sweeteners, low-carb, dairy-free, Paleo & Keto-supportive, and have no added sugar.

Whether you choose to walk with us in person at Liberty Station in San Diego on Sunday, November 12th, or virtually from wherever you are, every step you take is a stride towards a future without T1D.
